California & Arizona Adventures, Part 2, Day 1

A while ago I told you that we went out west for 2 weeks for some family and adventuring...I do plan on continuing to share our trip with you, I just get distracted.  You know, from the whole travel and surprise do-it-yourself move and all.

I think it will be easiest to go day by day of our trip...I'll do mostly photos for you all, and maybe some amazing long brief stories along the way.  If you have any questions or need information on the things we've done, you know, for your own trip, please contact me and I would love to give you some hints and tips and suggestions on what to do!

Day 1
Waking up at 2:15am CT, we arrived in Orange County around 9:30am PT, immediately rented our hot rod of a car, and headed off to Lake Havasu, Arizona.  Seriously, our car was bitchin'...take a look...
I swear this thing was a boat.  I think it's the biggest thing I've ever driven...AND I learned to drive on a Suburban... It was sort of comically placed in between a bunch of nice flashy cars at the garage and we knew it was ours as soon as we saw it.  Okay, okay, we rented it for transportation, not to show off, but you know what?  That sucker was comfortable!  Enough trunk room for 5 bodies suitcases, and bench seats up front! Hatchie Matchie!  So pulling the Oldie out of port, we immediately hit the road for our 5 hour trek to Lake Havasu.  We chose LH as our stopping point because it was pretty much smack in the middle of the airport and the Grand Canyon, neither of us had been there before, and it looked like there would be plenty to see and do.  It was a cute little touristy town on a huge ass lake in the middle of abso-fucking-lutely nowhere.
We got a great deal on Hotwire at the Hampton Inn, which we stayed at twice, once going and once coming back.  It's in walking distance of anything you'd want to do in LH, a huge free continental breakfast, and of course...armadillo towel animals in the bathroom.  I may or may not have decapitated this guy just moments after the picture was taken.  I didn't realize he was 2 towels and I grabbed him to show Aaron.  Whoops...sorry little buddy...
Sooo....one of the highlights and big attraction in Lake Havasu is the London Bridge.  Yup...one of THE London Bridges from England.  There are so many why's...I just don't know...
After driving around some islands and checking out the houses and neighborhoods, we decided we weren't terribly hungry, but seeing that it was only 110°+, a margarita sounded amazing.  So that's what we did...with a view of the lake and bridge of course.
After our drinks, we were pretty tired so we went back to the hotel, jumped in the pool and hot tub for a bit then passed out.

Keep a look out for Part 3, Day 2, when we arrive at the Grand Canyon!!!
